I rarely eat sandwiches and when I do, I prefer them to be hot (unless we are goin' with tuna).

So when a friend suggested we grab an Antone's po boy prior to
some major Saturday shopping, I immediately thought about my last trip to Antone's 8 years back at a Meyerland location - a rather underwhelming experience.

As I was walked into what I now understand is an ORIGINAL Antone's location, I quickly realized this was not the knockoff I once frequented. Apparently, Antone's is like Ninfa's or Carabba's - amazing establishments that spin off into womp womp chains.

This Antone's is pretty much a grocery store of delicious imported foods with a sandwich shop on in the back.

What sets Antone's sandwiches apart from the others? Screw mundane swiss and provolone -they use Gouda - genius!

Variety is the spice of life  here as they have different kinds of pickles to choose from, EVERY KIND of chip and soda you can think of, and if you want a more original side - you can choose from hummus, potato salad, tabbouleh and more.

AND it's fast, fresh and cheap.

Bottom line:
Antone's Import Co Original - often imitated, never replicated.
