I HEART MUSSELS!

I could not wait to get my hands on the mussel and frites at Broken Spoke.

You can understand my disappointment when I found out they had RUN OUT OF MUSSELS on Saturday night.

HEARTBREAK!

The staff could not be more sympathetic and offered a free appetizers- points there!

On to what I did get to experience there:
BEER - wow! I am no beer expert, but I know the few beers they had on tap were impressive. I wish I could remember the one I got, but if you ask for the STRONG one - you will be a happy camper. According to the bartender, 3 of these got him blind drunk on his bday. I was feeling pretty good after 1.

Free Appetizer: Shrimp Escargot IE: Garlicky goodness - insanely FLAVORFUL. I'll admit that it would not be as delicious if it wasn't free as it only comes with 6 shrimp that were pretty tiny.

Since I could not get the mussels, I went with the Bouchée de Bruxelles (fancy name for chicken pot pie). It was good..not great...I definitely felt fatter after consuming all the heavy cream. I will not be ordering it again.
My friend got the pork tenderloin and recommended to never order it (overcooked / dry).

Frites - they come with EVERYTHING. I prefer mine super crispy. Based on appearance, I thought I would be underwhelmed - but after first bite, I realized they were superb.

Service was great! Super nice bartender and the woman who seems to run the show is as real as can be.

I hope to re-review this place and give it a 5 once I return for those amazing mussels I keep hearing about!

Until then, I will think fondly of the beer and atmosphere...

***UPDATE***

I came. I saw. I CONQURED 2 out of the 8 types of mussels The Broken Spoke offers:

La Moule Mariniere (a white wine, celery and onion mixture) as well as the La Moule a l'Escargot (flavored similarly to the shrimp escargot - garlic infusion (shocker).

This is the place to go for Mussels and frites, ultimatley bumping its rating from 3 to 4 out 5 stars!
