If you are headed to Kemah, bypass the Fertitta monopoly (IE the ENTIRE Kemah Boardwalk) and come here instead!
It's been 5 days since my first trip to Sundance Grill......and I'm still in total food coma...
After a sun filled day of boating in Kemah, my party of 4 where in desperate need of nourishment and ended up at Sundance Grill. We were given a warm welcome and seated at Sundance Grill's gorgeous covered outdoor patio, allowing us to watch the sun set behind hundreds of boats parked at the attached marina.......paradise.
It was clear that we were in for a treat.
We must have been sun drunk, because we proceeded to order EVERY appetizer on the menu as our meal.. essentially turning this classy yacht club restaurant into tapas...why not!
Each appetizer was better than the last - a symphony of delicate seafood, garlic, and fried goodness.
My top picks:
Hanzee's Cake (named after the friendly owner, Hans): a fried flat seafood patty resting on a savory cream sauce. Don't think about it, just get it.
Cabos Jabos Stuffed Jalapenos: Jalapeno poppers with a MAJOR upgrade - CRAB (enough said).
Campechana: *Confession* I'm an INSANE campechana fan. This was the best I've ever had. FRESH seafood, swimming in the most perfect sauce with four delicate slices of avocado mixed in....can't deal.
Other apps included: Bahama Mama Shrimp (battered and stuffed with crab), escargot, spinach and artichoke dip, and their ceasar salad.
For serious - IT WAS ALL GOOD.
If Sundance can nail EVERY appetizer, imagine the possibilities for their entrees which include steaks, pastas, fish, and various German specialties that pay homage to the owner's roots.
Service was impeccable and each appetizer came out in a timely manner. Hans even stopped by the table to chat.
Although Sundance Grill is a casual restaurant off the water, be prepared for a phenomenal meal.
Oh, and for those of you fortunate enough to come by boat, give Hans a call pre-arrival and he will send a crew down to give you a hand docking!
