While it's no AKA Sushi, Kokoro can at least put my "sushi shakes" to rest during the work week so I can remain a diligent employee.
Kokoro is a tiny Japanese spot in the middle of the downtown tunnel system featuring sushi, teryaki, tempura and EVEN BUBBLE TEA!
Albeit the sushi is not nearly the best you've ever had, (comparable to grocery store sushi), I have to give them points on variety! They carry all your basic rolls, a few specialty rolls (don't get too excited), spring rolls, salads and fresh fruit.
As a sushi fiend who can never settle on just one roll, I can appreciate Kokoro's efforts in their sushi combo boxes.
For example, their Tex Mex Combo comes with a few spicy tuna pieces, a few Cali pieces with masago, and 4 pieces of sashimi (still scratching my head on their naming convention).
They also offer great $7 lunch specials featuring their roll of the day, soup, 2 dumplings and and an eggroll....CA-CHING!
They offer a limited selection of refreshing bubble teas (including my personal fave, frozen cappuccino with tapioca). How did I get through the work week without this?
Kokoro also sells fun Japanese candy and chips if you are into that sort of thing.
The staff is mildly friendly, but rest assured that you can get in and out of there in 5 minutes. There a few tables inside should you choose to dine in, though the ambiance is lacking.
Bottom Line: Fully admitting that I'd never come here if I was not working downtown, it remains a solid lunch option for my dangerous sushi habit.
