You may think 88 Keys is just another replica of Pete's and Howl at the Moon - but you are so very wrong.
88 keys is the antithesis of Houston's growing piano bar scene. No shot girls, no profanity (not that I ever mind), and no cover.
In fact, 88 Keys feels more like a scene out of Mad Men - martinis clanking, wine a'flowing, and 2 pianist playing jazz. - classy.
Although it shares owners with the neighboring, ultra pretentious Red Room, 88 Keys is anything but.
The setup is simple: cocktail tables up front, large wrap around bar in the middle, plush couches in the back - all within good view of the baby grand.
The crowd is definitely older - lots of ritzy River Oaks types looking for a place to unwind.
This is a great spot to impress a date after dinner. I would even recommend it for entertaining the parents (and proving you're not a complete degenerate when the moon comes out)!
Regardless of your company, be sure to get here early as it shuts down at 10:30 during the week and 11 on weekends.
Parking Tip: You can pay to park directly behind the bar, but I'd rather spend that $10 on a dirty martini and park (just as close) on the street. ;)
