You pleasantly surprised me, Studio Movie Grill!
I had a lot of fears coming into a place like this. It's easy enough to get distracted at movies with just popcorn and candy, but full blown waiter service... throughout the film?? How can this work?
Let me preface by saying I'd only recommend coming for "fun" movies that do not require a lot of attention (in my case the plotless, but oh so fabulous Sex and The City 2).
They really got their process and pricing right at SMG. If you plan on eating there, I highly recommend "reserving" your seats prior to attending a film (for an additional $12 that they give back to you in dining credit). Just like purchasing airline tickets, you can pre-select the seats your prefer in the actual theater on their website while you buy your ticket. Hooray for not rushing to get to the theater 30 minutes early for good seats!
I would say you only eat here for convenience factor and not because the food is awesome (it's average). The menu is your standard American fare - (burgers, wraps, pizza and salads). My friend and I opted for salads which were large and in charge and came with either fried, grilled or sesame chicken. Although I had low expectations, my chopped salad (complete with olives, egg, red onion, blue cheese and bacon) was actually enjoyable. It would be nice to see them eventually class up the menu.
Service was phenomenal. You are given a coaster that lights up when you need attention. Waiters come out promptly as does the food you order. The best part was how discreet the waiters are about bringing out items after the movie begins - its like their ghosts!
The screen itself was also impressive! SMG clearly invested in state of the art high def technology that made movie watching a true pleasure.
All in all, my first SMG experience was most excellent. Nice work!
Hint - I found the parking garage to be a little confusing. Really pay attention to where you park so you don't look as foolish as I did =)
