Butterfly Sushi Bar

***CHICAGO POSTING***
4 out of 5 Stars

This Texas girl LOVES her sushi, so on a recent trip to Chicago, my friends sent me to Butterfly.

This is how I rate my sushi
A) Freshness
B) Flavor
C) Creativity
D) Presentation
E) Durability (as in how dumb do I appear when the roll falls apart mid bite)

Butterfly gets 5 stars on A through D. As far as E) durability - not so much.

On to the details:
I started with a seaweed salad. Biggest seaweed salad I have ever seen. They even included cucumber, which is always a nice touch. They could go a little lighter on the dressing/sauce.

Rolls:

Samurai Roll - this roll used seared and tempura salmon (I'm a huge salmon sushi fan) as well as lingonberry sauce (sweet). The texture and flavors in this roll have perfect harmony. A must!

The basic spicy tuna - Butterfly def took this simple roll to the next level. They packed on that tuna - no skimping here and the spicy sauce was perfection. One of the best spicy tunas ever.

We also tried the Americano with the lobster, tuna, and tobiko. This was the least tempting of the three I tried, but would not be upset if a friend wanted to order it again.

Why the 4 and not a 5? No lunch specials and the ambiance could use an improvement. They were playing techno at 2pm on a rainy, lazy Friday - no sir!
