In short: If you are craving dumplings or inexpensive Chinese - you've got a winner.
A pal and I had dumplings on the brain. My usual GO-TO for dumplings is Yum Yum Cha in Rice Village (and most recently Doozoo in the Downtown Park Shops during lunch hour at work).
We decided to try Auntie Chang's...as it was a "dumpling house". We started out with egg drop soup. As far as egg drop soups go....it was par for course. There was nothing special to it, but it did hit the spot. As for dumplings - we went with an order of shrimp and veggie.
The shrimp dumplings were small but delightful. Very simple with a hint of green onion.
Heed my advice and pass on the veggie dumplings. By veggie - they mean spinach (which is fine) IF they were not dry and overcooked.
As a huge eggplant fan, I appreciated several eggplant options on the menu. We went with eggplant and water chestnuts in garlic sauce with baby shrimp. The textures and flavors were wonderful.
In general, their menu was very extensive - everyone in your party would have something to enjoy.
Overall - this is a great casual spot if you are looking for quick, inexpensive Chinese with great service. Just don't expect an out of this world experience (and you will be pleased).
